When you hear Kansas City, you would assume it is located in Kansas, which is both correct and incorrect. It consists of two adjacent cities. Part of it is located in Wyandotte County in Northeast Kansas, while the other part is located in Northwest Missouri and is the largest city in the state. Kansas City is named after the Kansa Indians who resided along the banks of the Missouri River. It is also known as the “City of Fountains” because it has more outdoor water features than any other city, more than 200 in fact. A large number of the fountains are located at the Country Club Plaza. Many travelers visit Kansas City to roll the dice at the Kansas City riverboat casinos, as are the cities hometown athletic teams, the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs and the MLB’s Royals. Kansas City is the “Heart of America” because it is located within 250 miles of the geographic and population center of the US.

One visitor who stayed at the Holiday Inn Aladdin described it as “funky and fabulous, a great historic hotel in downtown.” Baseball fans who are visiting to catch a Royals game may want to try the Drury Inn and Suites Kansas City Stadium.

Travelers flying into Kansas City will utilize the Kansas City International Airport (MCI) or the Charles B Wheeler Downtown Airport.Kansas City International is one of the largest airports in the country and a main hub for Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Iowa. It is just 20 minutes from downtown and in a prime location. It is known for being one of the most convenient airports in the world. For cheap flights, travelers may want to check the Charles Wheeler Airport, which is Kansas City’s first airport and is located downtown just across the Missouri River from the business center. It was originally for commercial aviation only, but now provides a stop for corporate, charter, and recreational aircraft as well.
