Santa Fe Flights and Town Information

Santa Fe, New Mexico

Santa Fe is the capital city of the state of New Mexico, and is the third-largest city in the state. It is a city with a historic feel to it, thanks to the state requirements stating that all new buildings must be built in a Spanish Territorial or Pueblo style of architecture. This has given the entire city a unique feel.

Santa Fe is a popular tourist destination, with most of the tourist activity taking place in the downtown area. Downtown Santa Fe is home to the Plaza, a one-block square that was the original seat of the New Mexico government since the time of Spanish Colonization.

Santa Fe also attracts large numbers of tourists who come for the hiking trails that wind through the Sangre de Cristo mountains. The climate is fairly clement, and Santa Fe experiences almost 300 days a year of sunshine and blue sky. During the winter season, when there is appropriate snowfall, the Sangre de Cristo mountains also attract droves of skiers and snowboarders to the Ski Santa Fe area, roughly 16 miles north of the city.

Lodging

Santa Fe offers visitors a variety of lodging options, ranging from hotels and resorts to bed and breakfasts and campgrounds. Travelers looking for lodging with a more rustic and authentic feels to it will appreciate the Lodge at Santa Fe, which is done in an exquisite "Santa Fe Style". Those in the market for a more modern place to stay can check out the Santa Fe Suites.

Travel

Tourists usually arrive in Santa Fe by means of the Santa Fe Municipal Airport. Travelers may be able to find fairly cheap flights with Great Lakes Airlines that flies directly to Denver. Other carriers that serve the Santa Fe Municipal Airport are Delta and American Airlines.
